In some of the latest cars, it is equipped with pre-tensioner seat belts for the driver and passenger. The function of the pre-tensioner is to ensure that the seat belt is securely fastened to the passenger's body during certain front or side impacts.

The seat belt pre-tensioner feature serves to provide additional protection (primary, some features will not activate if the seat belt is not fastened) to the driver and passenger during an accident, by tightening the seat belt to hold the body in a safe position and reduce the risk of injury from impact. 

The seat belt pre-tensioner can activate in a crash where a severe front or side impact occurs, along with the airbags. In certain frontal impacts, the pre-tensioner activates and pulls the seat belt into tighter contact with the passenger's body. When the seat belt pre-tensioner activates, there will be a loud noise and fine dust, which may appear to be smoke, in the passenger compartment. This is a normal and harmless operating condition. 

When driving, it is good for both the driver and passengers to know how to wear the seat belt correctly. Position the seat belt portion as low as possible on the hips, not on the waist, so that it fits snugly. This will allow the strong pelvic bones to absorb the force of the impact, reducing the chance of internal injuries. Place one arm under the seat belt and the other over the seat belt. Always position the seat belt anchor to the locked position at the appropriate height. Never position the seat belt around the neck or face.

Ini adalah kondisi pengoperasian yang normal dan tidak berbahaya. 

Saat berkendara, ada baiknya pengemudi maupun penumpang mengetahui cara memakai sabuk pengaman dengan benar. Posisikan bagian sabuk pengaman serendah mungkin di pinggul, bukan di pinggang, sehingga pas. Hal ini akan memungkinkan tulang panggul yang kuat menyerap kekuatan benturan, dapat mengurangi kemungkinan luka dalam. Letakkan satu lengan di bawah sabuk pengaman dan yang lainnya di atas sabuk pengaman. Selalu posisikan jangkar sabuk pengaman ke posisi terkunci pada ketinggian yang sesuai. Jangan sekali-kali memposisikan sabuk pengaman di leher atau wajah.
