How to Prevent CO Gas Poisoning in Cars

On a long-distance trip, the driver must be very tired because they have been driving since they left. So, the rest time at the rest area or gas station is used to sleep. This decision is correct, but you must pay attention to several things to avoid exhaust gas poisoning.

  1. To prevent poisoning from exhaust emissions, it may be possible to add a method of resting alternately so that someone reminds how long you have rested while the vehicle engine is running, as well as being able to secure from crime when left resting in the vehicle.
  2. Open the side glass slightly about 2-3 cm to help circulate outside air. Stay alert for theft and the possibility of rain. Keep in mind, this step is not completely preventative because exhaust gases can still enter the car cabin.
  3. Set your cell phone alarm to sound to wake you up, for example 30 minutes later. In addition to not oversleeping, AutoFamily will wake up when they feel the first symptoms of CO gas poisoning.
  4. Prevention is better than cure, so get out of the car immediately when you feel the first symptoms such as sudden drowsiness, weakness, or dizziness even though you are healthy. Make sure there are no other passengers still asleep in the car.
  5. If you are too weak, press the horn loudly to attract the attention of people outside the car. It will make people upset if it turns out not to be CO gas poisoning. But it's still better than being a victim.
  6. Regular servicing is the key to preventing CO gas poisoning in the car. During regular servicing, all components of the car are checked, including potential leaks in the car cabin, and the engine and exhaust gas lines.
